General English
Qualifications you can gain: Certificate in English with Communications, Levels 1 and 2
Would you like to communicate confidently in everyday English? Our General English programme will help you gain working knowledge of English and to develop the language ability you need for everyday communication, such as when you’re shopping, giving and responding to simple instructions and filling out common forms.
These courses cover all aspects of English language learning, including reading, writing, listening, speaking, grammar and vocabulary. You will also get to know New Zealand as a country and a people, and will gain other skills you need in order to communicate well within a multi-cultural environment.
Our highly skilled English language teachers will monitor your progress so they can move you onto higher levels of study when you’re ready.
Academic English
Qualifications you can gain: Certificate in English with Communications, Levels 3 and 4
PacTec’s Academic English courses suit learners who already have some English language background and either want to prepare for exam courses, such as the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) and the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), or to move into university study.
Those who successfully complete these programmes will also be able to enter the workforce in positions that require good English language skills, both spoken and written.
Our courses cover all aspects of English language learning, including reading, writing, listening, speaking, grammar and vocabulary. You’ll also have the opportunity to practice report writing and public speaking, and we’ll introduce you to IELTS, one of the most widely used English language testing systems in the world, so you can begin preparing for it and similar exams.
